FAQ

Frequently asked questions about industrial computing

  • What defines an industrial computer?

Industrial computers are more robust and less prone to failure than standard PCs. Fanless industrial PCs also require no maintenance, as they are not subject to mechanical wear. Even under intensive 24/7 use, higher ambient temperatures, and other environmental influences such as shock or vibration, industrial computers are significantly more durable than consumer or office IT systems.

  • Is active or passive cooling better?

Passive cooling is almost always better, as it eliminates the need for air coolers – a major cause of system failures (the same applies to water cooling). Furthermore, it prevents the need for case openings for air intake, which in turn effectively prevents dust and dirt from accumulating inside the system.

  • Is 24/7 operation possible?

Yes - TX-Team systems are basically designed for continuous operation.

  • Does Windows Embedded IoT offer any advantages?

Windows 10 and 11 IoT Embedded are identical to their respective Enterprise versions in the desktop operating systems. "Enterprise" versions offer the most comprehensive feature set. Therefore, embedded licenses are preferable, as they are almost always less expensive than "Pro" or "Enterprise" versions. Furthermore, they come with 10 years of support. Permitted use is limited to embedded and industrial computers.

  • How many years can I use TX-Team systems?

Virtually all our customers expect a lifespan of at least 5 years, sometimes even several decades. Often, a replacement or hardware upgrade is advisable after 7-10 years, as performance requirements increase over time.

  • Do you offer systems with long-term availability?

Yes. You can find this information in the datasheet for the respective system (downloadable from the online shop). New systems are usually available for 5 years. Often, this period extends to 7-10 years. To ensure long availability periods with short delivery times, we generally recommend a framework purchase agreement. This means you can flexibly adjust your orders, while we guarantee security of supply by stockpiling all critical components.

  • How long are your delivery times?

Orders with individual configurations and, if applicable, individual branding are usually delivered within one week. For large orders, delivery may take longer – however, partial deliveries are possible.

  • Is "Made in Germany" expensive?

Yes. But not with us. As a smaller company, we have our costs under control and no "administrative overhead".
